Each glass seed is unique. Emilie carefully embeds plant material in the molten glass, and then sculpts the glass into the seed form. Only clear glass is used - all the colour in the bubbles is created from the burning plant material. The bubbles are also formed as the plant material burns. Often in the larger bubbles it is possible to see bits of leaves and sticks inside.
Once the sculpting process is complete, the glass goes through a process called annealing (controlled cooling) over 48 hours. After the glass is annealed, Emilie carves the lines into the glass with a "v" profile diamond wheel on a lathe.
This piece can be collected from the gallery on Monday 1st of March, or posted for an additional cost.
